An influence map grows organically as you add and remove people, places and connections. Organising and spacing the nodes and their connections can play a key part in how easy the influence map is interpreted.
- Open the account
- Navigate to Influence Mapping and open the diagram you wish to edit
- Click the Edit Diagram tab to activate the influence map.
- Click and drag the nodes around the screen to display in a different configuration. Connections will remain and resize to fit new layout.
Edit tools are available at the top of the diagram screen.

Ctrl+Click to select several nodes. They will be grouped together and can be moved and aligned using the edit tools.
Rearrange: Aligns the nodes and reduces space to best fit on the screen whilst retaining connections.
A warning will appear asking if you want to save your changes. Click and drag the warning out of the way to check the new layout
Click the OK button to save the change or click the Cancel button to retain the original layout.
Important: Once you click OK to confirm the change, the action cannot be undone.
Redraw: Resizes the diagram to best fit on the screen. The screen view can also be resized using the scale slider
Zoom: Increases/Decreases scale to 100%. Does not change the diagram layout, but makes working on a small part of the diagram easier
Align Vertically: Crtl+click to select several nodes and align the central image handles vertically. The nodes will align with the first node selected. The connections will be retained.
Align Horizontally: Crtl+click to select several nodes and align the central image handles horizontally. The nodes will align with the first node selected. The connections will be retained.
Space Vertically: Crtl+click to select several nodes to space (not align) equidistant from each other vertically. The nodes at the top and bottom of those selected will stay where they are, and the nodes in-between will move an equal distance from each other to fit the available space. The connections will be retained.
Space Horizontally: Crtl+click to select several multiple nodes to space (not align) equidistant from each other horizontally. The furthest right and left-hand nodes selected will stay where they are, and the nodes in-between will move an equal distance from each other to fit the available space. The connections will be retained
